A week long ski touring course teaching you the skiing and mountain skills required to cross hut to hut over one of the Austria’s most beautiful glacier regions The Silvrettas. Beginning in St. Anton for the first two days, skiers will day ski tour, brushing up on techniques and learning new mountain skills before heading 40km’s south to reach the Silvretta mountain range.
Over four days skiers will be crossing to large glacier basins and climbing four summits
The ski tour begins in Austria then crosses into Switzerland and concludes back into Austria.
Accommodation
Bed and breakfast in St. Anton and on ski tour sleeping in some of the finest and most comfortable alpine huts/refuges in the Alps.
The huts are staffed and provide breakfast and evening meals during the tour.
Skiers need to be of moderate fitness level but do not need to be of marathon runner standard. You will be carrying a rucksack all day, which will contain lunch and water, clothing, crampons and ice axe. The pace for climbing is averaging 300m/900ft height gain per hour. The pace is suited to the group’s fitness level.
Skiers need to be competent in most off piste conditions typically from powder to spring softer types of snow. Generally on the glacier the snow is colder and generally more of a powder type. You will be given ski technique tips from your guide to make the most out of the all descents during the week.
